The Chicago Bulls’ star point guard has suffered injury after injury since winning his MVP award in 2011. Derrick Rose took an elbow to the face on the first day of practice which caused a facial fracture. The fracture is the bone underneath the eye and he’ll be given the choice between wearing a mask or goggles. The guard had surgery Wednesday morning but has no timetable to return yet. Though, many players with similar injuries have returned within two to four weeks.

Before the surgery, the Bulls said they were very optimistic for Rose to return before the season opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers on October 27th. If Rose continues to heal on time, he should be back prior to the opener.
