Just minutes passed after the Bulls draft Bobby Portis and Chicago fans are going wild. Wild in a good way right? Not exactly. While Portis is still considered the steal of the draft, his tweets he sent out four years ago has started him off on the wrong foot with Bulls fans.

Let’s keep in mind this tweet was sent out four years ago. To put things in perspective, young Bobby was only 16 years old when he was rooting for Lebron James. Which non-Chicagoan at age 16 wouldn’t root for the greatest player on the planet? Bobby is known to be a passionate player, his twitter just showed us a glimpse of that.

Bobby isn’t one to just pretend this never happened. Just hours after being drafted by the Bulls, Bobby went on Twitter and apologized to Bulls Nation for his tweets he made four years ago. His apology wasn’t necessary, but he wanted to get on the fans’ good side again.

Bobby Portis has come a long way from Little Rock. He grew up in a one-parent household going through financial struggles. At age 19 he’s playing the “dad” role to his three younger brothers. This guy has been through enough. It’s time people ease up on him and embrace his apology. After all, he was only 16. Portis brings a unique talent to Chicago with his sharp shooting ability; let’s just hope this kid gets off on the right foot when steps on to the court.
