If you ever watched Bobby Portis play in Arkansas, you’re probably wonder how does this kid get his motor. Clearly Portis plays with a lot anger, similar to what we’ve seen from Kevin Garnett throughout his career. Coincidentally, Portis says he patterns his game after Kevin Garnett; even the enraged passion part as well.

“I’m very crazy. I play angry, I play mad. I play very angry. Every game, I sit in the locker room and I have visions of the players on the other team slapped my mom. So that’s why I get mad and now I get you because you slapped my mom.” – Bobby Portis

This is exactly what the Bulls need; just a little crazy propelling the locker room. Portis’ anger isn’t unprecedented; he faced a dark past growing up in the bad areas of Arkansas. Portis still has a long way to go to prove himself to Fred Hoiberg and Bulls nation, but he’s starting off with a strong impression.

“I bring something different to the basketball court that I think most 20-year-olds don’t bring. I bring a sense of urgency. I play with a log on my shoulder; not a chip. I play with a log on my shoulder simply because I feel I’m one of the best kept secrets in this draft.” – Bobby Portis

Playing with a log will come a long way for Bobby Portis. As talented as he is, he’ll have to earn every minute he plays. To play behind Pau Gasol, Taj Gibson, and Nikola Mirotic will be tough for Portis to crack the rotation. Though, if he works hard and proves that he truly is playing with a log on his shoulder, he’ll  be sure to win over Bulls nations hearts the moment he steps out on the floor. That’s what Bulls fans appreciate more than anything; playing with effort is what every Chicago fan cares about.
