It seems like the more Derrick Rose is taking heat in the media, the more Jimmy Butler is filling up the headlines with compliments. Jimmy Butler’s mentality resembles Derrick Rose’s mentality back in 2011. Butler has grown into a leader and a fierce competitor who just wants to win. Doug McDermott sure thought Jimmy Butler was worth the $95 million deal he inked in this summer. “Jimmy’s been really impressive. He’s worth the money, that’s for sure.” McDermott said.

“I’ll accept my role whatever it is. I’ll always be a team guy. We want to win a championship, so I’ll do whatever it takes.” – Doug McDermott on Fred Hoiberg

While Jimmy Butler has already made a name for himself, McDermott is trying to do the same going into his sophomore season with the Bulls. With little to no doubt, the Bulls have invested a lot in Doug McDermott. The Bulls management also hired a coach that fits McDermott’s playing style perfectly. With Mike Dunleavy sidelined for the first two months, it seems almost fitting for McDermott to walk into a starters role and take his game to the next level.
