Jimmy Butler has sparked into a lovable character on and off the court. Fans love his hard work ethic on the court, and his fun interviews off the court. Derrick Rose was never the one to shine off the court because of his shy personality. Sure, Adidas did their best to get their top player out of his shell. However, Jimmy Butler has a natural charisma about himself that makes his interviews very entertaining to listen to.

“We didn’t win; that’s it. When you don’t win somebody has to find something to blame it on because we had a very good team and we were supposed to win. So why not throw out a guy like myself, who had a pretty decent year, and Derrick coming back and say they were clashing. That was a story everyone wanted to talk about and it worked. Everybody is fine. We just want to win. I laugh at it. I know what’s really going on. Everybody doesn’t. He knows. We’re fine. Whenever we win all of this is going right out the window. We start winning at the beginning of the season it’s not an issue anymore.” – Jimmy Butler

Jimmy Butler summed up the entire feud in his first sentence. Winning cures all, and if you don’t win then the media needs a reason as to why you didn’t win. It’s as simple concept that gets lost with flashy headlines and loud talking sports analysts. Ahem, Stephen A Smith.

Don’t get it twisted though. Jimmy Butler went on record on almost every interview he’s given since his max contract signing that him and Rose aren’t the best of friends. However, there’s no surprise there at all. Derrick Rose grew up in south side Chicago while Jimmy Butler grew up in a small town in Texas. They don’t come from the same background, so it’s only natural they won’t be the best of friends off the court either. Butler likes listening to his Taylor Swift while Rose wants to spend time with his son. The only thing that matters is their chemistry on the court, which Butler is confident they’ll grow a strong bond.

“Off the floor, he has a son, he has a family that he has to take care of. I’m with my brothers a lot of the time.” – Jimmy Butler

“I think we can. I think we will. And I think we better, because the way I look at it, I don’t think either one of us is going anywhere anytime soon.” – Jimmy Butler on his chemistry with Rose

If there’s one thing to take away from this besides the rumors being untrue about the back-court feud, it’s that Butler sees himself as a leader of the team with Rose. Butler doesn’t want to be beneath Rose nor does he think of himself above the MVP by any means.

“I think for me and Derrick, being our leaders, everybody else kind of falling in behind and leading in their own way, we’re going to be all right.” – Jimmy Butler

The Chicago Bulls will be in good hands going into next season. Both guards are extremely hard working and intend on going into next season with a chip on their shoulders.
