The famous odd-man out has finally spoken. After going through major ankle surgery after the playoffs, Taj Gibson comes out of the shadow and addresses the coaching change.

Taj Gibson was considered to be the typical Tom Thibodeau product player. A player who works hard and plays even harder. Gibson is known for his blue-collar style which Chicago fans have embraced over his six seasons with the Bulls. While he was loved by Thibodeau, he wasn’t treated fairly in many fans eyes as he came off the bench for the underwhelming Carlos Boozer.

“Not taking anything away from Thibs because he’s a great coach, taught me a lot. But moving from that offense to this one is exciting.” – Taj Gibson

Taj Gibson is considered to be the odd-man out from Fred Hoiberg’s system. Sure, Gibson fits the bill for the style offense Hoiberg wants to run, but it seems to be the cheaper option to stick with Nikola Mirotic who seems to be poised to take on a big role with the franchise. Gibson tried pleading his case telling the media how excited he was to run Hoiberg’s offense. Gibson’s exit seems almost inevitable, but he’ll try to play for a position in hopes to keep his roster spot.

There will be a major change in the offense, an offense that doesn’t make your eyes bleed from watching. For now, it seems Gibson’s spot is saved for a limited amount of  time, especially since he’s recovering from an ankle surgery. If the Bulls decide to keep him, the level of depth in the front-court seems almost unimaginable, which could be useful against the Cleveland Cavaliers’ big men.

“I was shocked. know what kind of guy he is.” Taj Gibson when asked about Rose’s rape allegation

It seems imminent that players will be answering questions about Derrick Rose’s rape allegations. With Media Day coming up and training camp just around the corner, Taj Gibson is just the first player to address Rose’s rape allegation. Like all of us, Gibson said he was shocked when he read the headlines having Derrick Rose’s name attached to the allegations.
