Jimmy Butler managed to enter a conversation in the realm of Michael Jordan twice in a 10 day span. Once for his historic 40 points second half performance in the comeback win against the Raptors, and the other was scoring the most points in franchise history since Michael Jordan’s 55 point game in 1997. After an amazing superstar level performance, Jimmy Butler wastes no time in crediting his coaches and teammates.
“Fred came in here and got on our ass. He went out there and coached the (expletive) out of us. I was feeling the ankle but I couldn’t let that stop me. I had to push through it.” – Jimmy Butler
“Kept getting me the ball, telling me to score, be aggressive and then just support me on defense whenever I make some bad plays,. They’re always there to help. Same thing on offense. This is a damn straight team win. Just playing basketball. Take the shots that the defense gives you. Everybody sees my 53 points, but that’s not the reason we won. The reason we won (is) E’Twaun making big buckets late. That guy gets a lot of the credit. Just kept being aggressive, taking shots the defense was giving me and luckily we pulled out the win.” – Jimmy Butler giving credit to his teammates
Despite being listed as questionable for the game, Jimmy Butler played on a bum ankle to help his team beat the Sixers 115-111 in overtime. E’Twaun Moore scored seven points in overtime which helped the Bulls ensure a victory.
Butler is averaging 23.1 points per game, 5.1 rebounds per game, and 4.2 assists per game as he continues to make a case for himself as an Allstar starter.
